Pray
for the 10/40
Window
|
FCC’s
vision for its part in world evangelization is,
“to send
teams, to plant churches, among unreached people groups, especially in the 10/40
Window.”
The 10/40 Window represents a rectangular area of the world, extending from 10
degrees to 40 degrees north of the equator and spanning the globe from western
Africa to eastern Asia.
Over four
billion people live here and most of those have never heard the Gospel message
even once. Why not? Many of these nations lack religious freedom. Their religion
is dictated by their political and spiritual leaders.
When God
wants to change a country He moves in the hearts of His people to pray. We
believe that sustained, specific prayer for the political and spiritual leaders
of the 10/40 Window can transform these 68 nations and their leaders.
-
Every
major non-Christian religion is based
here. Islam is the predominant
religion in 47 of these countries,
Buddism in 12, Hinduism in two, tribal
religions in two, Christianity in
four, Judaism in one, and atheism in
one.
-
According to Open Doors International,
43 of the 50 worst countries in the
world for persecution of Christians
are here.
-
These countries lack simple resources
like food and clean water. The
average income can be measured in
terms of a few hundred dollars --- PER
YEAR.
-
Infant mortality soars.
-
These countries are the least capable
of dealing with natural disasters
because the people are too poor to
construct buildings and dwellings
capable of withstanding disasters.
-
By virtually any standard of
measurement, these countries have the
lowest percentage of Christians in the
world.
-
These countries have the least
religious freedom. Saudi Arabia
will pay a bounty of $3,000 for anyone
who fingers a Bible study.
Christians in these countries are
persecuted, arrested, harassed,
imprisoned, raped, tortured, fined,
taken from their homes and families,
denied food and water, denied medical
care, assassinated, condemned, exiled
or executed.
-
While the western world has an
abundance of evangelistic activity
like radio and television
broadcasting, crusades, literature,
seminaries, churches and urban
ministries, the countries in the
Window have precious little of these
resources. Presently more than 70% of
evangelism effort and ministry are
directed to those people who already
profess to be Christians while less
than 5% of total missionary activity
is focused on those who have never
once had a chance to hear the good
news of the Gospel.
