The last command of
Christ was, "Go make disciples of all nations." He commanded us to do this first
in our own community, then in the surrounding area, and finally to the very ends
of the earth. (Matthew 28:19, 20 & Acts 1:8).
The leaders of
First Christian have long believed in the necessity of doing our part in
sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ both in Yuma and around the world.
Each month the first check
written is to the missions department, and it is for 26% of the total offerings.
This amount is then used to support local, state, national and international ministries.
Because of this
commitment, the church is able to support on a monthly basis the local Crossroads Mission,
United Christian Youth Camp in Prescott, Arizona, three Christian Colleges,
two orphanages, a prayer ministry, ministries and missionaries in Mexico, Asia,
South and Central America, the Middle East and North Africa.
If we are to love
the world the way God loves His world, we must SEE what God sees in the
world, HEAR what God hears in the world, FEEL what God feels about the
world, THINK what God thinks about the world, DO what God is doing in His
world, BE God's people in God's world.
We invite you to join with
us in loving God's troubled world by:
- Praying daily
for all the peoples of the world to be reconciled to God, and for the
missionaries
who are on the front lines carrying out Christ's last command
- Pray for the
Persecuted
Church
- Pray for the people in the
10/40 Window
- Pray for the
Unreached People
Groups
- Actively preparing to be a
"goer" or through prayer, encouragement, and financial support being a
"sender" of others, especially on
short-term trips.
