How to Find Joy and
Contentment
in a Crisis
(Based on Philippians)
Teacher: Julia
Staton
Worried about
your future? Feeling depressed because
of what is happening in your world?
Wondering how to calm your feelings of
panic? We know that Jesus tells us to
"not worry about tomorrow" (Matthew 6:25),
and for many of us that was a fairly easy
principle to follow. That is, until
the last few months of 2008! It's hard
not to worry when big financial
institutions, major manufacturers, and the
stock market plummet. It's hard not to
worry when prices and unemployment rise,
when salaries and counted-on dividends
become non-existent, and when lifelong
savings are wiped out. In this time of
national -- even global -- economic crisis,
we need to look to the truths of Scripture
for comfort and for direction on how to
think, feel, and act. We will learn
from the life-example of the Apostle Paul
and his teaching in the book of Philippians
how we are to act and react in the perilous
and panic-inducing days in which we now
live. Look expectantly toward being
blessed!
